SWINTON, MANCHESTER
PHOTOGRAPHED IN 2022
Filmed in Manchester since 2006 with a brief stint in Scotland, the fictional school of the same name has used three former real-life schools over the years:
- Hill Top Primary School, Hill Top Drive, Rochdale (2006-2011)
- Greenock Academy, Madeira Street, Greenock (2012-2014)
- St. Ambrose Barlow RC High School, Shaftesbury Road, Swinton (2022).
The latter was used to film the recent revival, with the buildings to the south end of the site used as non-production related living accommodation and, until late 2022, a COVID-19 testing centre.
The former school was previously used for the children’s TV series, 4 O’Clock Club, which is evident from an existing prefabricated building at the north end of the site that’s been dressed as ‘Elmsbury Police Station’, albeit now faded:
