CHISWICK, LONDON
PHOTOGRAPHED IN 2022
Before its rebirth as the Taskmaster house, Ibis Cottage was once home to the groundskeeper of Dukes Meadows Golf Course. It’s a three-bedroom bungalow located at the junction of Great Chertsey Road and Dan Mason Drive and is used during production for filming and crew accommodation.
The cottage is owned by the London Borough of Hounslow and includes a large outdoor area that’s often used for filming, as well as for parking the TM caravan. There’s also a garage which is often filled with props for contestants to use.
According to HM Land Registry records, “no act or thing shall be done or take place in or upon the [cottage] lands which shall become a nuisance damage or annoyance or inconvenience to the Duke [of Devonshire] or his successors”.
Would the Duke approve of the Taskmaster and his antics? I contacted his office to find out and received the following rather disappointing response:
“Thank you for your enquiry, however we do not have any comment to make on this subject.”
