Scott & Bailey

BESWICK, MANCHESTER
PHOTOGRAPHED IN 2018

Originally filmed in an 18th century former bank building at 26 Silver Street in Bury, Scott & Bailey used the former Grey Mare Lane Police Station off Grey Mare Lane, Beswick as ‘Oldham Road Police Station’ from 2014 until production ceased in 2016.

Since then, the old police headquarters building has been used for filming a number of police dramas, including The Bay (as ‘Morecambe Bay Police Station’), Bancroft (as ‘Stockport Road Police Station’), and Coronation Street (as ‘Weatherfield Police Station’).

The building ceased to be a filming location in around 2019 and soon fell into disrepair, with squatters taking up home and theft/vandalism issues, leading Manchester City Council to employ 24-hour security at a cost of over £80,000 a year. The building was eventually demolished in 2021 to make way for a new urban development, and nothing remains except these photographs.
