This place is special. While there’s no denying that the BBC’s Television Centre may well have achieved a level of prestige beyond any other television production facility, Granada were pioneers. In May 1956, the Granada TV Centre opened as the first purpose-built TV production facility in the world – six months before ABC opened their studios at Gore Hill in Sydney, Australia.

The old Granada Studios are perhaps best known as the filming location of Coronation Street for over half a century, but there’s much more to them. From an actual theme park to Victorian tunnels – the place is an absolute gem which I’ve documented under the following sections:
